Prevalence of Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase Genes and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern in Clinical Isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii from Patients Hospitalized in Mashhad, Iran

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strains are one of the most severe factors in hospital infection worldwide, which beta-lactamase enzyme is main resistance mechanisms. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate presence carbapenem-resistant genes and determine antibiotic patterns clinical isolates A. from patients hospitalized Shahid Kamyab Hospital, Mashhad, Iran. Methods: Out 286 collected Hospital (from March 2017 June 2017), 31 were confirmed be using biochemical tests. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was conducted disc diffusion method according CLSI standard protocols. The genes, namely blaVEB, blaPER, blaAmpC, blaVIM, blaIMP, blaSHV, blaTEM, detected polymerase chain reaction. Results: In this study, identified as baumannii, all revealed high ceftazidime, cefixime, ceftriaxone, meropenem, imipenem, cefotaxime cephalexin. case, lowest (19.35%) observed against polymixin B. Moreover, blaVIM 93.54% (29), 51.61% (16), 48.38% (15), 41.93% (13), 77% (24) isolates, respectively. However, blaVEB blaIMP none isolates. Conclusions: results showed carbapenem frequency among baumannii.
